THE Guyana Division of the Salvation Army will hold its annual distribution of Christmas hampers on Monday, 17th instant, bringing cheer and, in some cases relief, to thousands of needy senior and other less fortunate citizens in the city and its environs. The programme will be conducted at the Army’s Headquarters at Lot 237 Alexander Street, Georgetown and is scheduled to begin at 10:00 hrs. Special Guest Speaker is the Hon. Dr. Jennifer Webster, Minister of Human Services and Social Security, who will also present the first set of hampers to the needy.

Facilitated by Divisional Leaders Majors Emmerson and Carolinda Cumberbatch, and officers of the division, the programme will also feature lusty carol singing and other Christmas entertainment.

Chairman Edward Boyer and Members of the Salvation Army Advisory Board are also expected to play a key part in organising and executing the programme.

Beneficiaries are asked to ensure that they walk with their tickets received during registration, in order to eliminate delays or confusion. Only persons with tickets will be served with hampers.

The Salvation Army and its Advisory Board sincerely wish everyone a Happy Christmas and a bright and prosperous New Year. (Shirley Thomas)
