K&S/CHICO Inter-School C’ships : K&S hands over uniforms to participating schools : … medical facilities on standby at all matches

HAVING secured the various prizes for its inaugural Chico-sponsored Inter-School football championships, the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation yesterday handed over complete playing kits for the tournament to the eight participating schools at their Irving Street office. As a surplus to the tournament, director of the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation, Greg ‘Kashif’ Muhammad, told those gathered including representatives from the schools, an ambulatory service will be on hand at all the matches, along with an emergency vehicle.
“We are aware that the individuals we are dealing with in this tournament are minors so we don’t intend to leave anything to chance, with regard to injuries or any other emergency that may occur to one of the players at one of the matches.
“To this effect, we will be having an emergency vehicle on standby on all five playing days, while arrangements are in place at the Georgetown Hospital, wherein an injured player will be attended to expeditiously without delays,” said Muhammad.
According to Muhammad, the K&S Organisation is looking to make the Chico Under-13 tournament, which is being sponsored by Prime Minister Samuel Hinds and Edward B. Beharry Group of Companies, an annual one, bringing it on par with the senior tournament which is currently in its 23rd year of existence.
Said Muhammad, “We are looking to have an increase from 8 to 16 teams for next year’s tournament and that tells you we are looking to make this tournament an annual one, as we have done with the senior tournament so far.
“Added to that, we have in place systems with regard to the development of the players who will be competing in this tournament and that will be revealed at a later date to the respective schools.
Muhammad said the K&S Organisation is looking at the possibility of having a smooth tournament in its inaugural year, adding that the overall Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament will be rewarded with one laptop.
“The prize of the overall MVP for the tournament is different from the eight other MVP prizes we will be distributing, as the coordinator and his team will be looking at individual players from each school who will be tagged the MVP of that school.”
While the teams participating in the tournament received a full playing kit, other prizes such as trophies, memorabilia, computers and school texts from which both individual players and schools on the whole will benefit, will be awarded at the conclusion of the tournament.
Added to that, the top four finishers in the tournament will also be rewarded, while accolades for Fair Play, Best Goalkeeper, Midfield and Defence player and the Player who scores the Most Goals are up for grabs.
Meanwhile, the eight schools namely Company Road, Uitvlugt, West Ruimveldt, Grove, Tucville, Soesdyke, BV/Graham’s Hall and St Gabriel’s, who will be vying for supremacy in the tournament which kicks off next Saturday, have been divided into two groups.
In Group ‘A’, Tucville, Soesdyke, Company Road and Grove Primary will do battle while West Ruimveldt, BV/Graham’s Hall, Uitvlugt and St Gabriel’s make up Group ‘B’ with all the matches to be played at the Georgetown Football Club ground on December 22, 23, 25, 26 and January 1, commencing at 14:00hrs each day.
