GUARDS employed by the firm Strategic Action Security are happy to receive their salaries after three months. Chairman of Region 2(Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Parmanand Persaud told members of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC), on Tuesday, that the payment was made even as the matter was raised by an opposition councillor at the meeting.
Persaud said the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh had to intervene to make it possible for the employees to receive their pay.
The Chairman explained that the money voted for security was exhausted in September and a supplementary budget had to be presented in Parliament for funds to be released.
Meanwhile, the guards who received their emoluments said they are pleased and thankful to the government for having come to their rescue.
They are attached to schools, government offices and hospitals in the region.
