A DRIVER of PPP 3360 suffered some $200,000 damage after his vehicle ran into four stray cows roaming the Maria’s Lodge Public Road, on Essquibo Coast, Sunday night. Navindra Persaud, of Johanna Cecelia, said he was proceeding to Suddie at around 21:30 hrs when he hit the animals and the impact caused both headlamps on his car to shatter and the bumper destroyed.
He said no one has come forward to claim ownership for the cows and he is left to finance the repairs himself.
Persaud said he reported the matter to the Suddie Police but several other drivers have bemoaned the situation with the strays on the public road as serious and said action is needed to remove them from the thoroughfare.
At Anna Regina, too, motorists endorse the call as they and motorcyclists have similar experiences with straying livestock.a
