ADRIAN O’Brien Whyte and Adrian David appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, charged with being in possession of 21.874 kilogrammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
They pleaded not guilty to the offence and were remanded to prison until December 14.
Police previously reported that, around 03:30hrs on December 6, ranks from the Anti-Narcotics Branch at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) searched a number of boxes containing mangoes for shipment to Canada and found the illicit substance in boxes of macaroni among mangoes.
Police and Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) agents made a joint cocaine bust at the (CJIA) that morning
and Whyte was, allegedly, the lone shipper.
