Former wife allegedly assaults ex-husband’s spouse

MOTHER of 3, Nallini Ramotar, was slapped with an assault charge when she appeared before Sparendaam Magistrate Alex Moore on Tuesday, December 4, charged with unlawfully assaulting Nichola Mc Donald, the alleged spouse of her former husband, on Sunday, 2nd December, at Mon Repos East Coast Demerara. In her defence, Ramotar told the court that she had never seen or interacted with Mc Donald prior to the incident, which she called a misunderstanding.
Present in court with the man at centre of the controversy, Mc Donald also claimed never to have seen the former Mrs. Ramotar prior to the incident.

No information on what may have transpired between the parties was aired in court, but Police Prosecutor Joel Alli had no objection to bail being granted to the 42-year-old defendant, who was then placed on $10,000 surety.

The matter has been adjourned to January 3, 2013.
