WITH Christmas just three weeks away, the Office of the President has chosen to usher in the festivity in a very traditional way and commence what is to be the first of an annual event.
President Donald Ramotar, First Lady Deolatchmee Ramotar and Prime Minister Samuel Hinds joined several ministers of the government, and representatives of the diplomatic community, among others, for the first annual ‘Evening of Carols’ hosted on the lawns of State House on Main Street.
There were rousing performances of several carols, for the most part from the Police Military Band and solo and duet vocal renditions by its members.
The Police Band and choir led the gathering in performances of several traditional carols, including, “Joy to the World,” “Angel We Have Heard on High” and “Silent Night”.At the end of the evening, Pesident Ramotar lauded the performances as “spirited” and was in high praise of the First Lady his wife for conceptualising and organising the event.
