DEQUAN Chapman and Nobert Beckles (no addresses given) appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, jointly charged with break and enter and larceny.
It is alleged that, between November 25 and 26, at One Mile, Mahdia, Potaro, they broke and entered the shop of Allison Mc Pherson and stole a quantity of merchandise priced at $650,800.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Police Corporal Vinetta Pindar, prosecuting, said
the virtual complainant secured her businessplace and left but, when she returned the following day, she discovered that a window had been broken and some items were missing.
The prosecutor said Beckles was arrested and some of the booty was found in his possession and Chapman was held on the basis of the information Beckles gave to the police.
Beckles was remanded to prison and Chapman was placed on $100,000 bail until the case is called, again, on December 18.
