‘Getting to Zero’… : Private Sector companies support National Week of Testing 2012

MEMBERS of the Guyana Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GBCHA) and other organizations once again collaborated with the National AIDS Programme Secretariat (NAPS) to set up HIV Testing sites for the National Week of Testing which was observed from November 29 to December 1st, 2012. altThe local theme for this year’s observance was ‘Zero Stigma; Get Tested’ in keeping with the overall theme of ‘Getting to Zero’.
The following GBCHA companies hosted HIV Testing sites at their workplaces in and out of Region 4: Bank of Nova Scotia, Banks DIH Limited, Demerara Distillers Limited, Guyana Forestry Commission, Grace Kennedy Remittance Services, Guyana Lottery Company, Guyana National Shipping Corporation, Guyana Revenue Authority, Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Company, Institute of Private Enterprise Development, National Milling Company of Guyana (NAMILCO), Neal & Massy (Guyana) Group of Companies and Sterling Products Limited.
This year the National Week of Testing activities culminated on World AIDS Day which is a day dedicated to raising awareness and showing care and support for persons infected and affected with HIV/AIDS. As such, the GBCHA said it would like to urge all persons to know their status.
The GBCHA, in a release, noted that it continues to mobilize and assist the private sector in their response to HIV/AIDS and Chronic Diseases and Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the workplace and beyond through training and other technical assistance as well as helping organizations apply their products, services and resources to the national response to health and wellness issues in Guyana.
