WEST Indies middle-order batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul will be honoured this Saturday, December 1, at a special ceremony to be hosted by the Unity Lancaster Sports Club (ULSC) where he began his career and he is expected to be joined by his son Tagenarine Chanderpaul in a feature T20 match against a Guest XI.
The ceremony is scheduled to commence at 16:30hrs and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr Frank Anthony will deliver the feature address, after which a billboard will be unveiled in homour of Shivnarine. The Unity Lancaster XI will be led by Chanderpaul and consists of a number of former and present national players of all levels. The team includes Tagenarine, Sheik Mohammed, Hemraj Charbarran, Lalchand Persaud and Chrisna Arjune.
Expected to be on show in the Guest XI are Reon King, Lennox Cush, Leon Johnson, Christopher Barnwell, Esaun Crandon and Assad Fudadin. At this time the organisers are uncertain of Ramnaresh Sarwan’s participation for the Guest XI.
The following day the T20 action continues at the same venue as a Crabwood Creek team will oppose ULSC from noon.
