TEACHERS and representatives of the schools participating in the inaugural Chico brand-sponsored Kashif and Shanghai Under-13 Inter-School Championship were yesterday presented with equipment to aid in their preparation for the event, while also meeting with the organisers to iron out any issues that they may have had. At the meeting held at the Kashif and Shanghai head office yesterday, schools’ representatives and teachers applauded the effort made to invest in the nursery of the sport, citing the importance of making sure that talent is nurtured.
The teachers are of the opinion that the just concluded COURTS Pee Wee tournament helped to build the excitement among the players and called on parents to come out and support their children.
Company Road, Uitvlugt, West Ruimveldt, Grove, Tucville, North Georgetown and BV Quamina Primary Schools (and a replacement to be named for Marian Academy) will be teams vying for supremacy in the championship.
The tournament kicks off on Saturday, December 22 and concludes on January 1, with all matches being played at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground. Entrance into the ground will be free.
