Normalcy returns to Mahdia Secondary after paranormal events of turbulent Tuesday : – students under parental observation

FOLLOWING hours of drama and suspension of classes for the remainder of Tuesday at the Mahdia Secondary School, in Potaro,  sessions resumed yesterday without interference from “anything”. Yesterday was deemed a success by a parent who monitored the situation closely.

Reports reaching this newspaper are that, on Tuesday, 21 female students between 13 and 15 years old had been “infested with evil spirits”, which caused them to adopt an unusual behaviour wherein they “acted up” and destroyed school property.

Two students had even reportedly jumped from the upper flat of the building.
According to the parent, the other students were rushed to the nearby church, where members, teachers and parents commenced a prayer service to restore the students to normalcy and to invoke divine protection for them.

Regional and educational officials, when summoned, lent support to the anxious parents and brought the situation somewhat under control by suspending sessions for the day.

Yesterday, all students were calm and receptive to teaching instruction, and parents accompanied their children to and from school.

Efforts to solicit comment from the regional administration and/or education officials and from the central Ministry of Education officials all proved futile.
