Ninvalle re-elected unopposed as GABA boss

STEVE Ninvalle was re-elected unopposed as president of the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) when the Annual General Meeting was held at Olympic House yesterday morning. Ninvalle and Secretary Sean Richmond were the only two executives to be re-elected unopposed at the meeting. Veteran administrator Eustace Cuffy was re-elected vice president while Gordon Nedd and Carl Graham replaced vice presidents Maurice Rajkumar and Jeff Roberts respectively.
Dexter Patterson was returned as treasurer while Kesa Chase replaced Keith Campbell as assistant secretary treasurer. Addressing the affiliated clubs after the elections, Ninvalle stressed the need for elected officials to put amateur boxing first and personal interest after.
“While I thank the gyms for having the confidence to elect me and this new executive, I must ask members (of the executive) to look within and ask yourself if you can afford to put boxing first. If you can’t then you may as well jump off the ship now,” Ninvalle said.
The new executive will hit the ground running as the National Open is scheduled for December 14. The returning officer was Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) Secretary Ivor O’Brien.
