Guinness Greatest of the Streets … East La Penitence blow away Kingston 5-1

IT was a night for East La Penitence on Monday at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac where they trounced Kingston 5-1 in the Georgetown Zone of the Guinness Greatest of the Streets Football Competition.

The eventual victors were led by Sheldon Shepherd who scored a double as he scored in the sixth and seventh minutes.
Orvin Milton drew first blood for East La Penitence when he found the back of the goal in the third minute while Carl Tildon and Dennis Edwards scored a goal each. For the opposition, their lone goal was scored by Colin Clarke.
The night got under way with Sophia B recording a 2-1 victory over D’Urban Street. Fazal Kamal and Octtive Graham scored in the 14th and 15th minutes, respectively, to help their side to a come-from-behind win. D’Urban Street drew first blood in the 11th minute through a Chris Galloway strike.
Alexander Village’s Shem Porter scored in the third and 14th minutes and his teammate Delon Williams scored in the seventh minute against the Norton Street team that did not score.
Broad Street B defeated Sophia A 3-1 with Daniel Favorite and Shaka Nunes scoring for the victorious side with an own goal to assist them while Quincy Chappelle secured the lone goal for the opposition.
North Last Entrance wrapped up the night with a 3-0 win over Lodge Housing Scheme. Travis Grant doubled with a single from Rickford Jones.
Also scoring victories were South Ruimveld and California Square, who got the better of West Back Road and Festival City in matches that ended 2-0.
The competition continues tomorrow at the East Ruimveldt Basketball Court from 18:00hrs with another eight matches to be contested.
