Yesterday, both businessmen saw it fit to continue that trend, by supporting this year’s 23rd annual tournament, which kicks off on December 16, and carries a first place prize of G$4M, by donating one motorcycle and an undisclosed sum of cash to the organisers.
According to Shewjattan, he had no hesitation to make the donation of the motorcycle which will be won by one lucky fan at the tournament, as he has always been supportive of the dynamic duo for an undisclosed number of years.
“As we get bigger, our support for this tournament will certainly be increased, as we have an unwavering alliance with the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation. As we grow, they will definitely be growing with us and I wish to encourage the fans to come out and support this tournament, which is always a highly anticipated one on the local football calendar for years” said Shewjattan.
At the Craig Street, Campbellville-based SPR offices, Office Secretary Francine Chase handed over the cheque to Major   on behalf of Cush, saying her company was always pleased to be associated with the tournament and will continue to do so.
In accepting the keys and later the cheque, Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major said they were thankful and grateful for the unwavering support shown to the tournament by both businessmen, whom he said never hesitated to give of their best to the successful hosting of the tournament in whatever way they can.
Sixteen teams will do battle for supremacy in this year’s tournament which will culminate at the Guyana National Stadium on Tuesday, January 1 2013, with an after-final show that is being headlined by Jamaican reggae/dancehall artiste Mavado.
