WHIM businessman Winston Ragnauth succumbed due to an incised wound to his neck, which resulted in shock and haemorrhage. The findings were made by Government Pathologist, Dr Vivekanand Brijmohan after a post-mortem was conducted at the New Amsterdam Hospital Mortuary on Friday.
Last Wednesday, Ragnauth, the proprietor of Toney Liquor Restaurant at Whim Public Road, was discovered lying motionless, in a pool of blood, in his bedroom.
The body which was clad in a pair of trunks bore an incised wound across the neck, fingers, and right hand.
The deceased’s son, Emmanuel Ragnauth, who is a plain clothes cop, thereafter made checks for several items including cash, several bales of cigarettes, along with cases of vodka, beer, Guinness and several mobile phone cards, which were all missing.
This newspaper was reliably informed that a blood stained knife, wrapped in a pair of shorts and two hammers were found in close proximity to the scene.
Meanwhile, following the murder /robbery searches were carried out on the homes of several persons in the Whim Community. However, at the home of one of the persons in custody several packs of cigarettes among other items suspected to be unlawfully obtained were found.
