TWO Professional Guard Services (PGS) employees, responsible for escorting monies to the bank, appeared in court yesterday, charged with stealing $2M from Survival Supermarket. George King and Marcus Sergeant (no addresses given) pleaded not guilty to the charge, before Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
Particulars of the offence said they stole the cash on August 13.
Police Corporal Kerry Bostwick, prosecuting, had no objection to bail but requested that it be substantial and that the defendants report to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) every Friday at 08:00 hrs.
King and Sergeant were each ordered to post $250,000 surety until November 16.
Earlier, attorney-at-law Mr. Basil Williams, who represented the men, said they have no knowledge of the crime and were nowhere near the money.
The lawyer claimed the theft was an inside job and the defendants were blamed instead.
