Nathoo tops Uniparts Senior Chess Qualifiers

TOP senior chess player Loris Nathoo clinched first place on the tie-break to end on five and a half points with Glenford Corlette in the keenly contested finals of the Uniparts Senior Championship Qualifiers which concluded on Sunday at Kei-Shar’s Sports Club. The other five senior players who have qualified to enter the 2012 National Senior Chess Championship are Kriskal Persaud, Frankie Farley, Maria Thomas, Shiv Nandalall and Craig Sylvester.
At the end of the tournament their scores read: Persaud and Farley – five points each, Thomas – four-and a half points, Nandalall and Sylvester – four points each.
The tournament began late last month and was conducted by the Guyana Chess Federation to identify the top seven players to face Senior Champion Taffin Khan in the 2012 National Senior Championship to be held later this month.
