ALL four men who were held by police after the execution- style murder of Marlon Osborne called ‘Trini’ have been released, Deputy Commissioner of Police ‘Law Enforcement’ Seelall Persaud confirmed yesterday. He said it was a result of habeas corpus proceedings, before Acting Chief Justice Ian Chang, a few hours after they were detained.
The Crime Chief said one suspect was arrested immediately after the homicide, while the other three were picked up a day after the killing.
Osborne, 33, of Lot 1732 Achievement Place, South Ruimveldt Park, was gunned down about 14:00 hrs on October 31, in Laluni Street, Queenstown, also in Georgetown.
Police investigations revealed that Osborne was driving motor car PNN 9922 when shots were discharged from another vehicle which drove away. He suffered injuries and was taken to Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he succumbed.
Having been sprayed with bullets from a high-powered rifle, he died from multiple injuries while on his way to surgery at the GPH.
Osborne, said to be a close associate of Ricardo Rodrigues, who was executed in similar circumstances two weeks ago at the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) ‘Pit Stop’ Restaurant and Bar, at Thomas Lands, also in the city, was, allegedly, the bodyguard of the latter.
The Guyana Chronicle was told Osborne was about to turn out from the bridge of a residence in Queenstown in his car when another car drove up, blocked his path and the assassins inside riddled him with bullets from a high-powered rifle.(Michel Outridge)
