Jets down Royals 75-49, Flames torch Bulls 67-53 for first win..

THE Amelia’s Ward Jets rebounded from their controversial one point loss to Retrieve Raiders, accumulating their third win by coasting past a weakened Victory Valley Royal side  75-49, while the Block 22 Flames torched Half Mile Bulls 67-53 to register their first victory after their fourth game, as the BOSAI Minerals Group Inc. (Guyana)  Open Challenge Basketball Championship continued Saturday night at the Mackenzie Sports Club Hard Court.

The win by the second seeded Jets allowed them to remain in second position in the points table, to be on seven points, one behind leaders number six rated Retrieve Raiders with their 75-49 whipping over the third ranked Royals, who are on four points after one win and two losses.
The Jets impressed once more after their narrow let up against Raiders in a one point loss and rebounded with many of their best players rested on the bench against the Royals, who now have a similar win/ loss record.
The  Flames have five points with that win over the Bulls, but they have played five matches so far.
The Jets took control in their game against Royals and led 21-13 after the first quarter ended and by half- time were ahead 51-25.
As they were coasting when the third quarter expired 57-35, guard/ forward Ruel McKinnon triggered the Jets after netting three from ‘down-town’ in the first quarter.
McKinnon then finished on nine points with another back court player Parrish Cadogan leaping his way to eight points. Forward Javon Nelson added six, and the Webster duo of Shane and Allister each contributed four points and were never really pressed into action in the run-away win.
Forward Harold Adams led the scoring with a game high 19 points for the Royals but it was a losing effort as junior national youth player Marlon Pollydore accounted for 13 and Alwyn Rodney added 10.
The Flames outshot the Bulls in the opening game of the evening, coming from behind as they were adrift 15-17, 25-31 and then 43-44 after the third quarter ended, but were able to overcome and score a solid 67-53 win, in the end.
Their best shoot once more were Devon Morison and Aubrey Johnson with 16 points apiece as Kellon Sullivan netted 12, Kerwin Williams seven and Selwyn Noble six for the Bulls only win so far in this tournament.
Top shoots for the Bulls were guard/forward Michael Turner with 19, game high, points as Jason Blair netted 10 and Denzil Lovell five for the losers.
