HPC and Windies play to a tame draw

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) – Half centuries from Kirk Edwards and Kieran Powell highlighted West Indies batting against Sagicor High Performance Centre (HPC) as their practice match petered out into a tame draw at the 3Ws Oval on the third day Thursday.

Edwards top-scored with 72 and Powell 61 as the Windies enjoyed the better of the final day of their three-day encounter, climaxing a week of preparations ahead of the tour of Bangladesh tour.
Darren Sammy’s men ended the day on 261 runs, resuming from their overnight score of 39 without loss.
Darren Bravo was also among the runs, but falling just two runs short of what would have been his second half-century of the match.
Bravo had scored 57 in the West Indies first innings total of 220 for nine declared.
Middle-order batsman Narsingh Deonarine scored 24 not out, while his Guyana teammate Assad Fudadin, who opened the innings with Powell, made 20.
Sunil Narine was on ten not out when the match ended.
Jomel Warrican was the best bowler for the HPC, taking two for 59, skipper Carlos Brathwaite, one for 40 and Miguel Cummins one for 30.
The Windies players are due to leave for Bangladesh today to play two Tests, five One Day Internationals and one Twenty20 International.
The first Test will be played from November 13 to 17 at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, in Mirpur.
