TWENTY-FOUR-YEAR-OLD Anthony Pydanna known as Ricardo of Lot 24 St. Magdalene Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice was ordered to post $300,000 bail on Tuesday when he faced an indictable charge of attempted murder before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo.
The unemployed man is alleged to have attempted to kill Yuwyn Ramalho, on Matthew Allen Public Road, also in New Amsterdam, on October 27.
Police alleged that the defendant, being armed with a bottle, wounded the virtual complainant during the New Amsterdam Town Day ‘wash down’ at the location popularly referred to as the Stelling Road.
Police Corporal Orin Joseph, prosecuting, did not object to pre-trial liberty as the medical report indicated that the injuries to the victim were not life threatening.
Pydanna is accused of injuring Ramalho’s left eye after he was denied a bottle of Guinness Stout. The case is fixed for trial on December 10.
Meanwhile, opthalmologists attached to New Amsterdam Hospital are working assiduously to have the sight of eighteen-year-old Ramalho restored.
He is currently a patient at the institution where he has been since the early hours of Sunday morning.
