GUYANA Water Inc. (GWI) said, Wednesday, that it is working to restore normal service to Dazzell Housing Scheme, on the East Coast Demerara. In response to an article published in the Saturday, October 20 edition of Stabroek News under the headline ‘No running water for days in Dazzell Housing Scheme’, the utility said works are ongoing towards the restoration, despite disruptions being currently experienced by residents.
GWI said its Divisional Operations Manager, East Coast, Mr. Orlando Benjamin conducted an outreach programme on Saturday October 20 and Sunday October 21, during which he informed affected customers that the disruptions were due to operational difficulties at the Bachelor’s Adventure Well Station, also on the East Coast Demerara.
That well station, which serves a significant section of the Dazzell Housing Scheme, is experiencing difficulties due to blocked screens, GWI said, adding that it is, currently, mobilising a team to rectify this difficulty which will provide relief to all affected customers.
A release said GWI’s East Coast team is currently making changes to the network which serves the community in order to provide relief until the repair of the Bachelor’s Adventure Well Station is completed.
GWI apologised for any inconvenience experienced by customers, pointing out that alleviating the service delivery challenges of the community is a priority and the East Coast team is working to swiftly restore normal service to the community.
Meantime, customers can call telephone number 227-8701 for updates or e-mail customercallcentre@gwi.gy.
