A MAN appeared in court yesterday, charged with threatening a Kaieteur News office assistant and damaging a motorcycle belonging to the publishing company.
Thirty-two-year-old Sayram (only name stated), of Lot 60 Mc Doom, East Bank Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the offences when he made his appearance before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell. Particulars of the offences said, on October 19, the defendant did $53,000 damage to the motorcycle and made use of threatening behaviour to Harry Bridgemohan, causing a breach of the peace.
However, the defendant told the court that he is renting an apartment from the virtual complainant’s grandfather but, that day, he and the virtual complainant had a misunderstanding and the latter threw a pitchfork at him but he moved away and it hit the motorcycle.
The defendant said the virtual complainant then warned him that his boss would ensure he goes to jail.
Sayram was put on $35,000 in both cases until November 6.
