DINGO Chase, 25, of Lot 169 East La Penitence, Georgetown appeared in court yesterday, charged with unlawfully wounding his reputed wife, Joanna Livingston.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell, denying that he committed the offence on October 11. Police Corporal Kerry Bostwick, prosecuting, said they were hanging out at the White Castle Fish Shop, Hadfield and John Streets, also in the city, when a misunderstanding developed over a photograph in the defendant’s cell phone.
The prosecutor said the defendant became annoyed after the virtual complainant saw the picture and slapped and kicked her, causing injuries to her eyes.
The prosecutor said the injured women reported the incident but, yesterday, Livingston informed the court that she does not want to proceed with the case for the sake of her child.
However, the magistrate advised Livingston that proceeding with the matter against the defendant may very well be in the best interest of the child and suggested that she rethink her decision and return to court tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the defendant was put on $75,000 bail and a probation report on him was ordered.
