THE bodies of two police constables, Marlon Letlow, 27,  of 23 Goedverwagting East Coast Demerara, and Ledon Aaron, 25,  of 338

Track “A” Coldingen, East Coast Demerara, were found at Karisparu Village Region 8 yesterday morning.
The bodies of the men were found almost three days after they left the Kato Police Station on Sunday night, at approximately 22:00hrs to conduct a scheduled patrol of the area.
The Guyana Chronicle was told that the bodies of the men were discovered some distance from each other and away from their ATV’s.
The discovery is said to have been made by persons in the Karisparu Village area. It is not clear how long it took the police in the area to determine if the men were missing and if any radio or cell phone contacts were made with them men during their patrol.
However this publication was informed that it was yesterday, just hours before the men’s bodies were discovered, that the police in the area became suspicious since they were not hearing from the men.
A very reliable and confidential source who spoke with this publication said that at first the police began receiving word that the men were involved in an accident but when they arrived on the scene, the evidence that confronted them told a very strange and totally different story. It more looked like murder the source explained.
Contacted yesterday, the Public Relations Department of the Guyana Police Force said that they were not in receipt of any such information. That was related at approximately 14.30 hrs.
However our information and reliable source had already confirmed that the men’s bodies and patrol vehicles were recovered at what was first thought to be an accident scene.
Up to late last night the police force was still not confirming that the men had died and only said that they were suspected to be missing.
Despite that stand of the Public Relations Department of the Force, other elements of the Force telephoned the relatives of the men and offered messages of condolence. Those calls were made as early at 15.00 hrs.
The aunt of Marlon Letlow said that she received a sympathy call from the police force at approximately 15.00 hrs yesterday. The woman said that she enquired when the bodies will be brought to the city and was told as soon as possible.
The woman, Samantha Alleyne, added that the police told her that the commander of the E and F Divisions would have been paying her a visit sometime yesterday.
At the home yesterday, Letlow’s aunt said that she first head of the tragic news at approximately 14:00hrs via an online news site. The woman said that after seeing her nephew’s name on the site, she called her husband but by that time the child mother of the now dead policeman was already there.
According to Alleyne, when she heard the news, she telephoned the police headquarters and began enquiring about her relative and was told by the police that they have some information and that they will relate it to her, but she needs to visit the office today, since they were not going to share the information over the phone. She said that she was also informed that the body of the other policeman, Ledon Aaron, appeared to have been burnt.
The woman said that her nephew, who is the father of a three-year-old boy, explained that Letlow had been working in the location for the past six months. She said that before that he was stationed at Eve Leary. Letlow had been in the Force for approximately 10 years or more she added.
At the home of Ledon Aaron, his family members were too distraught to speak with this publication. The man, who attended the Academy of Apex Education and joined the Guyana Police Force after sitting his examination, was described as a very simple person.
His brother, Jason Aaron, who spoke to this publication, explained that they got the news about the death sometime after 14.00hrs. The young man who spoke on behalf his relatives said that they were still trying to come to grips with the untimely death of the 25-year-old police officer.
According to Jason, Ledon, who has been posted to the area after he completed training school some years ago, had some reservations working there. He said that a while ago his brother came home for vacation and was reluctant to return to the location.
Jason told the Guyana Chronicle that his brother expressed concerns for his safety after a policeman was shot with several arrows sometime ago, and almost lost his life. He said that incident always had his brother fearing for his safety in the district.
However there are reports that Ledon Aaron was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and may not have been the intended target for who killed him.
A police source said that the target in the deaths may have been Marlon Letlow, and that his death seems like revenge. That theory made its rounds among many police officers who remembered that it was this very Marlon Letlow who was fingered and charged for aiding and abetting, along with eight other persons, the robbery and murder of two gold miners in a Bartica hotel in 2010.
In 2010, Rawle Newton was accused of murdering Jainarine Raghubir and Ramdeo Deonarine. Letlow and the four other persons were charged with receiving, relieving, comforting, assisting and maintaining Rawle Newton after he committed the crime.
At the time, Marlon Letlow was attached to the Tactical Service Unit of the Guyana Police. He was at the time stationed at the Bartica Police Station and allegedly attempted to blackmail Newton after receiving stolen items from Newton which belonged to the murdered miners.
