Fields, Persaud and Braithwaite impress in X-Class

GUYANA’S Lennox Braithwaite, Dylan Fields and Mahendra Persaud took away the majority of the top honours in the X-Class of the West Indies Fullbore Shooting Competition which took place here at the

Timehri Ranges during the past week.
altThe three shooters accumulated 21 medals which they received on Sunday evening at the event’s presentation ceremony at the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Officers Mess, Camp Ayanganna.

With their input, Guyana were able to win the Individual title, the Short Range title and also the Long Range/Milex Cup title.
Fields won three gold medals, three silver medals and a bronze medal; Persaud, the Guyana captain, won two gold medals, two silver medals and three bronze medals and Braithwaite took home three gold medals, one silver medal and three bronze medals.
Jamaican Shooters John Nelson (3 gold medals), David Rickman (3 silver medals) and Jose Nunez (1 bronze, 1 silver) took the second spot.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Norris Gomez picked up a gold medal and Carl Wong won a silver medal and a bronze medal. Barbados’ Marlon King won a bronze.
O-Class category top performers included Lancelot Trotman who won three gold medals and a bronze and Aubrey Yee-Sang a gold medal, two silver and a bronze.
No other shooter won more than two gold medals in this category. Oscar Waldon won a gold medal and a silver while Christopher Joseph claimed three silver medals.
Desroy Maile and Stephen Chung both won a gold and two silver medals each, as they were the only other shooters with three medals in the O-Class category.
