Just when the Guyanese Diaspora is gearing up to positively put their shoulders to the wheel to help move Guyana forward, APNU and AFC once again bring Guyana to the forefront for all the wrong reasons. No surprise here!
AFC leaders, especially the ones who crossed the floor from the PPP, never had the interest of the youths of Buxton, Linden and Agricola at heart. As such, they are having a field day, achieving their objectives by using these youths to destroy themselves and bring shame to our beloved country.
At the same time, they harbour a false sense of satisfaction of having exacted revenge on the party they grew up in, and which expelled them for similar reasons.
No wonder then that they are calling on Mr Clement Rohee to resign. They know that he is capable of doing his job as Home Affairs Minister because they grew up in the same party. So he is a thorn in their sides when they want to carry out their dirty work.
I hope the leaders in these communities are taking note of this and are trying to convince these youths that they are only being used by these opportunists to destroy their future and the future of their country.
Voluntary and charitable organizations, together with youth team leaders and religious leaders need to rise up within these communities and stop this blatant abuse of our youths. Too long now we have allowed the side effects of politics and politicians’ personal egos to destroy our youths.
Mr Editor, look what happened at Buxton and Linden. And what are the opposition’s contributions toward the rehabilitation of these places they helped to ruin? Nothing! Thanks to the government, Buxton is way on the road to recovery, and Linden is following suit, whilst the opposition is stirring up more troubles in chosen villages.
I hope the youths of Houston and Eccles have seen the wicked scheme of APNU and AFC, and do not destroy their villages. One wonders where these quasi-politicians will target next. New Amsterdam, Berbice, perhaps?
Mr Editor, the opposition was well aware that by voting to slash the budget they will, directly or indirectly, stall the government’s projects that are aimed at developing these very villages. (I’d like to class it as a husband working hard to bringing home extra cash for the improvement of the family and the wife refusing to take all because she does not have the vision to spend it.) They know that the youths do not stand a chance of developing themselves, and will be at their mercy to carry out their dirty work.
Quite obviously, educated youths in these villages will disagree with the opposition to destroy their villages, country and themselves and herein lays the fear of the opposition. They must be reminded that all eyes are on their every move including the diplomatic corps. It will be to their benefit to change course and support the government to make Guyana a better place for all Guyanese.
Mr Editor, Guyana is well on its way to recovery, and with the help of the Guyanese Diaspora things can only get better. The time has come when politician should confine their debates to parliaments and leave our youths to live a decent and meaningful life. Guyana is a beautiful country. APNU and AFC must make themselves worthwhile to live in it.
