DARREL Durban (no address given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, on a robbery with violence charge.
He pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which stated that, on September 28, at Sophia Exhibition Complex, he robbed Jamacie Jacobs of a cell phone valued $150,000 and, at the time, made use of personal violence on her.
Police Corporal Kerry Bostwick, prosecuting, said the crime was committed while the virtual complainant was at GuyExpo.
The prosecutor said the woman held on to the defendant and he dealt her several cuffs to her face but she raised an alarm and nearby police went to her assistance.
Durban was put on $100,000 bail until October 11.
