HARAN Narine (no address given) had his not guilty plea changed, yesterday, when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on a fraudulent conversion chare.
He had pleaded guilty to having, between January 1 and 31, been entrusted, by Nasim Prashaw, with pipes valued $360,000, and he fraudulently converted them into his own use and benefit.
However, the defendant, who could barely stand in the courtroom, claimed he took nothing from the virtual complainant and that caused the magistrate to make the change and put him on $100,000 bail until November 1.
