A post-mortem performed on the corpse of murdered South Sophia woman, Shoala Gilgeous yesterday revealed that she died as a result of manual strangulation compounded by blunt trauma to the head.
The body of Ms. Gilgeous, 23, was discovered dead in her bedroom at her South Sophia, Greater Georgetown home on Sunday.
Police said yesterday that the man she was ‘living home’ with is in police custody and is assisting with investigations.
The mother of one was found on Sunday by relatives lying on her bedroom floor with what appeared to be marks of violence on her body at about 17:30 hrs, after they were asked to check on her by the suspect.
The man and Gilgeous shared a 10-month turbulent relationship which was riddled with fights and quarrels and on Sunday they had yet another row which as overheard by neighbours but it was a norm and they did not pay attention.
Residents also recalled hearing Gilgeous scream but also ignored that since they had frequent fights.
Gilgeous worked as a counter attendant and is survived by scores of relatives and a daughter.
