ARCH rivals Albion Cricket Club and the Rose Hall Town Bakewell will clash tomorrow to decide the winner of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)-organised Leslie Amsterdam Memorial/Memorex Under-17 tournament at the Area ‘H’ ground. This match, which will be played over two days, is expected to produce a high standard of play as both teams have several Berbice and Guyana players. It is being used to restart the BCB’s 2012 season, following a lengthy break that was created by the inclement rainy season
Albion will be led by National Under-19 player Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai and he would be supported by a strong batting lineup that includes Balchan Baldeo, Sharaz Ramcharran, David Latchaya, Tyrone Poornauth, Navendra Permaul and wicketkeeper Shivnarine Srikissoon.
Motie will lead the bowling attack with support from off-spinners Ramcharran, Latchaya and Latchman Bishram, while medium pacer Azad Khan along with leg-spinners Brain Dookna and Veeren Ramoo will lend support.
RHT Bakewell will be led by exciting National Under-17 all-rounder Shailendra Shameer and their batting would be spearheaded by Shameer, Nicholas Cameron, Devin Baldeo, V. Gooniah, Brandon Prashad, Daniel Lewis and Arif Chan.
Medium pacer A. Paul will lead the bowling attack that includes off-spinner Shameer, Chan, Lewis, Phaffiana Millington and leg-spinners Prashad, Calvin Jeffrey and Gooniah.
The match starts at 10:00hrs daily and the winning team would take home $40 000, the runners-up $25 000 and the man-of-the-match in the final, $10 000.
The umpires for the finals would be Zahier and Imran Moakan along with Augustus Outar and the teams will be chosen from: Albion – G.
