A man who allegedly wounded a minibus conductor at Melanie Damishana, on the East Coast Demerara was placed on $15,000 bail when he appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Court. According to Prosecutor Joel Ali, investigations revealed that the conductor, Terrence Parks, unlawfully wounded Adrian Rajmangal, who is also a conductor, after the two were engaged in a melee on the Melanie Public road. Patrolling ranks who were passing at the time arrested the apparent aggressor Parks, for the wounding of Rajmangal.
Parks, in his defence, admitted to the Magistrate that he did wound the conductor, but it was the conductor who first attacked him, and he was simply defending himself. He stressed that Rajmangal suffered a wound as a result of a finger ring he was wearing at the time.
He further stressed that the investigating rank paid no attention to his side of the story, and he was just shoved away in the station lockups.
After listening to the particulars, Magistrate Alex Moore released Parks on $15,000 bail.
He is expected to return to court on 11 September.
