Linden returning to normalcy

HEAD of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon, disclosed yesterday that government was satisfied that the situation on the ground at Linden was evolving towards the return to normalcy. He said that major features of the overall agreement signed on Tuesday last are being put in place, with the inputs and the support of principal stakeholders.
With respect to the burnt-out One- Mile Wismar school, he said that Cabinet at last Tuesday’s meeting had discussed a range of proposals brought by its education sector to deal with the pressing dilemma of relocating the  more than 800 displaced primary school  pupils.
He said that funding has been quantified for procurement of the materials and equipment which would be needed at the temporary sites identified by the Ministry of Education.
He reported too that the Ministry of Health is currently engaged in planning reallocations at alternate locations to maintain the provision of health services for those communities that lost the services that were being provided at the burnt-out Vivienne Parris Health Centre at Central Mackenzie.
