KARIM Stewart, 19, of Lot 559 Toucan Drive, South Ruimveldt on Monday appeared before Georgetown Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton to answer charges of throwing missiles and threatening language. Particulars of those offences state that he threw missiles at the home of Mariska Giddings, and made use of threatening language to Giddings on August 14.
Represented by attorney-at-law, Paul Fung-a-fat, Stewart pleaded not guilty to both charges, and the lawyer requested that the defendant be sent to the observation ward to receive medication for his mental problems.
However, the magistrate told the lawyer that she cannot send the defendant to the observation ward just like that. She said the defendant appeared very lucid, and seemed to be well aware of what is going on.
The prosecution had no objection to bail, which was granted in the sum of $15,000.
The matters have been set for recall on September 28.
