THE Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) said the sports fraternity has once again plunged into sadness and deep mourning with the tragic death last Sunday of one of power boats most admired racers, Orin Belle of Bartica. Tragedy raised its ugly head while Belle was participating in the Annual Mainstay Regatta. His boat and Orin Charlie’s unfortunately collided with another causing his demise.
A release from the ministry said: “Orin Belle, like his family, cannot be separated from powerboat racing and has been an outstanding performer where and when he participated in such activities.”
“The news of his passing was sensational and has sent shocks and surprise throughout the sports community and especially the powerboat racers, fans and organisers.”
“His passion and commitment to the sport must be remembered by all and sundry.  His performances must be lasting examples and a memorial for everyone.”
“The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/National Sports Commission wishes to extend heartfelt condolences to his immediate and extended families, the community of Bartica, the Powerboat Races Family, relatives and friends and the sport fraternity.”
“May his soul rest in peace.”
