BRAZILIAN miner, Paulo Carvalho Silva, 55, of Boa Vista, Brazil was killed in an accident while driving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) at Puruni Backdam, Mazaruni  at about 18:30 hrs on Tuesday, July 31. Police report that the miner was driving along the trail when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed.
He was taken to the Bartica Hospital for the injuries he had received, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigations are in progress.
