PAUL Mc Lean (no address given), who pleaded guilty to a simple larceny charge yesterday, will be sentenced today. Acting Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, before whom he appeared, convicted him of the July 16 offence, particulars of which said he stole a water pump valued $140,000, property of Adrianna James.
Assistant Superintendent, Denise Griffith-Jacobis, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was asleep when she heard a loud noise and, upon looking out, she saw the defendant with something in his hands.
The prosecutor said James made checks later and discovered that her water pump was missing.
The defendant told the court that he is very ill and needs to see a doctor. Consequently, the magistrate ordered that he be taken for immediate medical attention and return for sentencing today.
