MARK Mc Lean, 37, of Lot 427 South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was remanded to prison yesterday, on a drug trafficking charge. He appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton and pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on July 12, he trafficked in 145 grammes of cannabis (marijuana).
The defendant claimed he was framed and that the police found the narcotic in another yard, from where someone else escaped and he was arrested instead.
But Police Sergeant Alexis David-Hossanah, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail for Mc Lean, stating that he was caught with the narcotic in his pants crotch.
Mc Lean has to make his next court appearance on July 26.
