I KNOW Lincoln Lewis since he was an aspiring Trade Unionist with roots in McKenzie. To this date, Lincoln Lewis still tries to survive. While in the Army, we were privy to names of Afro-Guyanese personalities who were perceived as threats to the Burnham administration. Lewis was not one.
Lewis was below lightweight status and a pop squeak. It wasn’t until the great Walter Rodney came on the scene that Lewis band-wagoned into limited prominence.
The true threats within the black enclave were Gordon Todd, George Daniels and, to some extent, the versatile Joseph Pollydore.
Check the Army Intelligence Reports for that era. Lewis, you will recognise how lowly a figure you were. Even today, for all your mouthing, you preside over a divided Labour Movement in Guyana. Your kind of justice: ‘divide and rule’.
Today, I am witnessing a Lincoln Lewis who seems consumed in a hate he accuses others of propagating.
I am ‘Dougla’, Lincoln. I am married to an Indian wife. I farm for my living. I am qualified to speak and to challenge your posture. Why get after Ravi Dev? Is it because of your superior physical strength? Or your influence over certain parts of the Black collective whom you and those of your ilk keep mentally and physically on the ready to repeat 1963/64?
Dev is correct; there are black youths being socialised to attack Indians. I know. Buxton is a recent example. Dazzel/Bare Root is a current example, as are Albouystown and Agricola. You can pretend not to know. But the armed forces have enough intelligence on the reality.
The statistics shows that much, much more Indians suffer attacks, robberies, etc, committed by black youths on them than on any other race. Why? Out of Love, Lewis? It is because of socio-culturalisation? Stop being an ostrich!
For your information, crime detection is premised on profiling. The same as your hate is premised on profiling the other race and vice-versa. Yes, Indians are afraid to walk the streets – day or night. That is another reality for you. I see it firsthand where I live.
The prisons in Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad, Jamaica, USA, England and Canada are substantially populated by blacks.
You want to deny that too? It puts me to shame as a member of the Black collective that you and others who pretend to look after the interest of the blacks cannot be honest with us. Your pseudo leaders lack the guts to tell our black youths that they are bringing shame upon us. We are stereotyped because of our conduct. And this is the world over, in event you are too blinded by hate to notice.
Until such day that we can tell our black race, particularly the young, that the track they walk on was cut by themselves, we are fooling ourselves. Let us stop blaming others for our dishonesty to ourselves.
Would you, Lewis, employ in your union as a clerk a black youth who quit school at Form 3 and ran with the wild? Take the acid test. How many black employers would do so?
And we talk of ‘constructive anger’? Are you the only one qualified to express ‘constructive anger’? Ask those black victims who have been robbed as they travel through Agricola.
What shame they hold to be robbed by their fellow blacks! How do you think my Indian wife felt being robbed in the sanctity of our home by young Buxtonians? Ask Corbin how proud he is of the ‘thriving’ chicken farm project he started in Buxton. The revolutionary Buxton army has revolutionised the chicken farm. How many marijuana planting and robberies? Direct your ‘constructive anger’ there, Lewis. You will be more ‘constructive’ that way.
Get off your rhetoric and find peace within yourself. You are equally guilty of hate-mongering. ‘Constructive anger’ does not cut it. Stop fooling the black people. Unfortunately, it is people like you who have mentally enslaved the Black collective. The sin will follow you.
While Kaieteur News and Stabroek News have been kind to publish previous contributions by me, they may not want to publish this contribution. Why? Is it because they may fear your bullyism, your ‘constructive anger’? You will burn their papers too. Only your truth must be the truth, Lewis. Everybody else’s truth is hate.
