THE Indian Arrival Committee (IAC) said it welcomes the recent development within the Supreme Court of Guyana as it collaborates with the United Nations Entity for Gender, Equality and Women’s Empowerment. The IAC, in a statement yesterday, said it supports the launch of this joint programme on the theme, ‘Gender, Domestic Violence and the Courts’ which seeks to support the development and empowerment of women as well as providing mechanism whereby they can be better protected at the level of the court and law of the country.
This has been a longstanding call from the IAC as it relates to gender equality and women’s empowerment. The IAC also congratulated the Supreme Court of Guyana for this initiative since it will provide a better quality of life and ensure that our women folks are in a safe and secure environment, whether it is at home or at the work place.
The IAC said, too, that it is “willing to collaborate with the Supreme Court to support this venture as we strengthen the strongest fabric of our society, our women, as well as supporting the theme of this event and how it will benefit the women of Guyana”.
