Man fined for threatening to burst his boss’s head

A MAN was fined $10,000 with the alternative of seven days imprisonment yesterday, on conviction for having threatened to burst his boss’ head.
Michael Bourne (no address given) pleaded guilty when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton, charged with using threatening language to Joseph De Cunha on July 3.
Police Corporal Simone Payne, prosecuting, said the defendant was employed by the virtual complainant, who is the Manager of Channel Two Television Station.
According to the prosecutor, that day, Bourne had gone to his place of employment to collect money due to him but was told, by the virtual complainant, that he would have to wait for the accountant to pay him.
However, the defendant became annoyed and issued the threat which was reported.
Bourne told the court, when he went to collect the money, he was informed, by the secretary, that the boss was not there and he decided to wait. But, while waiting, he heard the boss’s voice in the office and that made him angry.
The defendant said he, then, spoke at the top of his voice, revealing that he had previously burst the heads of three other bosses who tried to rob him. He maintained he never made another threat but just repeated what he had done before.
Bourne disclosed that he had served jail time for wounding his former bosses but did so because they tried to rob him while he was only working to maintain his four children.
The magistrate told the virtual complainant, who was present that they should have paid the defendant when he went to get his money. She added that the whole incident could have been avoided if the defendant was given his cash.
But the magistrate pointed out that it still did not give the defendant the right to make such serious threats.
