Police probing report that school girl eloped

A THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD girl is suspected to have eloped with a 15-year-old boy with whom she has gone into hiding. The secondary student, Simi Bacchus, of Paradise Village, left her home fully dressed in school uniform that morning, but never returned home in the afternoon.
Her mother, Omawattie Bacchus, said she became worried after her daughter did not return, and she went in search of her at the Eighth of May Secondary School in Dartmouth.
The woman said she searched without success, but learnt that her daughter was seen in company of the teenage lad earlier in the day.
The parent was also informed that the girl and her companion had embarked a motor car that was heading to Supenaam, Essequibo Coast, and that they probably travelled by speedboat to Parika, and onwards to Georgetown.
The girl has been reported missing to Essequibo Police, who are investigating the report.
