SINGER Jessica Xavier, 27, who is charged with causing death by dangerous driving on March 5, made another appearance before Magistrate Alex Moore at Sparendaam Court yesterday. After submissions by Defence Counsel Marcel Bobb and Police Sergeant Bernard Browne, prosecuting, in the presence of a tearful Xavier, the case was adjourned to August 20.
At a previous court hearing, on June 9, Bobb had succeeded in getting the prosecutor to agree to the application of the Administration of Justice Act (AJA), and Xavier pleaded not guilty to the offence.
The allegation against Xavier, who is on self-bail, is that, last February 26, at Mon Repos Public Road, also on East Coast Demerara, she drove a motor vehicle in a reckless manner and caused the death of 20-year-old Vangaskar Ramcharitar.
