Sealey’s body found on Mahaicony foreshore

THE body of Mahaicony resident, Colin Sealey, was found on the foreshore in the area by a search party comprising policemen, relatives and public-spirited persons at about 10:00hrs yesterday. Colin Sealey had jumped into the Mahaicony River on June 06, 2012, after escaping from the lock-ups at the Mahaicony Police Station.
Police yesterday said that Colin Sealey, 53, a fisherman of Zes Kinderen, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, made a dash for freedom from police custody at the Mahaicony Police Station, and jumped into the nearby Mahaicony River about 11:15 hrs on Wednesday, June 06, 2012.  A police rank had gone to the lock-ups at the Mahaicony Police Station to take Sealey to the Cove and John Magistrate Court.
During this process Colin Sealey overpowered the policeman and escaped out of the station.  He ran to the bridge across the Mahaicony River from where he jumped into the river and was feared drowned.
Colin Sealey was arrested by the police at about 16:30hrs on Tuesday, June 05, 2012, during investigations into allegations of threatening behaviour, assault and indecent exposure.
