Prison officer electrocuted at his home

PRISON officer Colin Gravesande, 28, of Lot 62 Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara, was electrocuted while attempting to unplug a cord from a transformer in his home on Thursday.
Police are investigating the tragedy which occurred about 17:15 hrs and caused the death of the Guyana Prison Service (GPS) member and father of two.
Reports said the man’s wife, Tesha Collins heard a scream and went to see what was happening when she found her husband on the ground motionless and frothing from the mouth.
She raised an alarm and neighbours and relatives helped her put him in a vehicle that transported him to a doctor, who pronounced him dead on arrival.
It is believed that Gravesande was shocked by the connection to a faulty transformer, which is under repairs, after he came into contact with a live wire.
