DDL supports KMTC Pre-Independence Meet

YESTERDAY the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) once again did their customary gesture of supporting the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) for their June 10 meet, by handing over their contribution to president of the club and Retired Chancellor of the Judiciary Cecil Kennard. The winning trophy and a substantial amount of the prize money were handed over by DDL’s Brand Manager of Wine and Spirits, Maria Munroe, to Justice Kennard in his office, with the contribution going towards the second race for horses classified G and Lower, on the seven-race card.
At the simple handing-over ceremony, Munroe stated that one of the main reasons that her company has been supporting KMTC for over 40 years is because its committee has worked very hard to put together the meets.
Before closing her remarks she added that DDL, under various brands, has been supporting sports throughout the years and is very proud to partner with KMTC. adding that she knows there is some inclement weather but hopes it clears up so that the club can have a successful meet.
Kennard stated that his committee has been gradually increasing the cash prizes for the events but could not have done it without the help of the sponsors, adding that over 50 horses have been registered for the day’s event.
Meanwhile, Kennard disclosed that it has been raining in the Ancient County but there is supposed to be some favour, come judgment day.
