Namesake remanded on unlicensed gun, ammo charges
GREGORY Payne (no address given) was remanded to prison yesterday, on charges of being in possession of a firearm and ammunition without licences.
He appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton and pleaded not guilty to the offences, which said, on May 27, at James Street, Albouystown, he had a .38 revolver and four matching rounds while not being a licence holder.
Police Corporal Simone Payne, prosecuting, said ranks on mobile patrol saw the defendant throw something on the ground and one of them approached and searched him.
The prosecutor said the officer who made the observation retrieved what the defendant had discarded and it was the gun and bullets.
At her request, her namesake was refused bail until June 28.
