Camera footage shows intruders on Officer Graham’s Lamaha Springs’ premises

–police trying to make faces identifiable
FOLLOWING last Tuesday’s arson/break-and-enter/robbery at the home of Police Senior Superintendent, Evan Graham, surveillance footage was acquired from the camera on the premises, and this is under police review.
The footage reportedly showed two men jumping the back fence, after which a towel was thrown on the camera, and one of the men was shown patting the dog’s head while the other used a sledge hammer to break open the rear wall of the house.
Up to press time, no arrests had been made, but police were trying to enhance the footage in an attempt to make the two men identifiable.
Last Tuesday morning, fire suspected to be arson destroyed part of the ceiling and a section inside the building at Lot 62 Rewa Avenue, Lamaha Springs, Georgetown.
Senior Superintendent, Evan Graham is in charge of the Construction Section of the Guyana Police Force (GPF), and is stationed at Force Headquarters, Eve Leary, Georgetown. He reported to the police that a bag containing an undisclosed amount of money and jewels was missing.
The police recovered some of the gold jewellery on a dam in the area, and a sledgehammer believed to be used to break down the wall of Graham’s home was also found in the yard.
It is believed that after the arsonist(s) gained entry to the heavily grilled, flat, concrete house, they broke open a wardrobe in a bedroom before setting the wardrobe alight in making good their escape.
Chief Fire Officer, Marlon Gentle has, however, said the GFS had received four fire calls from residents of Lamaha Springs that a house was on fire, and the three fire tenders that responded shortly after 10am had contained the fire to that building.
He added that Police Officer Graham was at work when the fire started at his home, but when he received news of the fire, he showed up at the scene.
Gentle said fire fighters gained entry to the building by ripping out several zinc sheets, and that they contained the fire that was spreading.
