Abandoned Police pick-up sold at recent auction

THE Police pick-up that has been parked in an empty lot at Vlissengen Road and D’Urban Street, Georgetown, was sold.
It was bought at a recent public auction conducted at Force Headquarters, Eve Leary, also in the city, Acting Police Public Relations Officer, John Sauers revealed.
According to the Superintendent, the vehicle, with number plate PLL 6129, was among several put on sale at the recent auction and for which Government receipts have been issued.
Asked who the new owner of the vehicle is, Sauers said he is not in a position to provide that information at this time.
He said, following disposal of police property to civilians at auctions, all logos and other Force paraphernalia are removed from them but PLL 6129 is still identifiable in the police blue and white colours.
Sauers said another person, living not far from where that vehicle is parked, also purchased several more Force vehicles at the same auction.
On Saturday, May 19, some residents in the D’Urban Street area expressed alarm and concern over the presence of the pick-up and called the attention of the authorities.
They claimed the pick-up had been abandoned there for the past two weeks, after being moved from Chapel Street, in the nearby Lodge ward, also in the city.
